System Availability Alert

During the month of August 2010, the ScrapTheftAlert.com website will be experiencing intermittent service interruptions in connection with upgrades and enhancements to the website content, as well as the hardware that the site runs on.

  • In preparation for a new version of the website software in the coming months, it will be necessary to take the site offline for brief periods to make adjustments. We will do our best to schedule these for after 6PM Eastern Time; however, some of the modifications might require interruptions during regular working hours. Most of these interruptions should be less than 15 minutes at a time, but since things involving computers do not always go as planned, they could take longer.

  • The data center where the computers running the site are housed has advised us there will be a number of equipment, software, security and Internet connectivity upgrades taking place between the beginning of August and the end of September. Some of these will require the servers be taken completely offline to perform, meaning the website will be unavailable until that particular task is completed. Most of these outages will be scheduled during late-night/early-morning hours from Friday nights through Monday mornings between 11PM and 7AM. Most of these outages may not require the full window to complete, but may be of an "up and down" nature.

  • At this time, we are not anticipating any full-day outages.

If you encounter a "Site is down for maintenance" without an estimated time of restoration, or an error that the site cannot be reached at all, please try again after 20-30 minutes.

We regret any inconvenience this might cause, and thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
